Holiday Wishes and Calling Cards for our Troops Overseas

Robin Schmidt, Delta Airlines Flight Attendant and Airline Ambassadors' Member, Spearheads The Campaign

Robin's Message:

Every year I 'adopt' American soldiers who are on deployment in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the globe.   The troops have explained to me over and over again, the importance of receiving mail to help them cope with the time away from their loved ones back home.   In an effort to uplift spirits and boost morale over the holidays, for Jonathan's (see You Tube video below) unit, I have decided to do a 'Mail Call'.

Jonathan's unit (2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment known as the Ghost Battalion) is currently serving in Iraq.   There are 80 men in the combat unit, who I would like to give an opportunity to talk to their loved ones over the holidays.

During her South Africa Mission Trip this year, Robin cradles a very sweet friend

My efforts for Mail Call for our Heroes has two parts.
1) to get 80 Christmas cards; one from 80 different people; for each soldier in Jonathans unit (I cannot get the names of the individual soldiers, for security purposes)
2) to get 80 AT&T calling cards (minimum of 500 minutes each) - one for each Christmas card

The reason for AT&T cards is simple, Jonathan told me they are the only ones that work where they are stationed.

If you can send a calling card, or Christmas card - my address is below.   Once I collect all 80, I will send them in a care package for Jonathan to have a 'Mail Call' for each soldier in his unit.  It is a little early to talk about Christmas; but I need to act on it quickly so the cards are received in Iraq before Thanksgiving and Christmas come to pass.   Sometimes with missions, it takes a few weeks for mail to arrive.   If there is a windfall, and more cards are received than for Ghost Battallion, I promise that I have enough resources to spread to other heroes away from home.

If each of us takes action, we can change the world, one person at a time.
Thanks for helping me make this dream a reality!

Always, Robin

Donations can be made via Pay Pal to the email address of find_robin@hotmail.com.

Currently there is still a need for Christmas cards written to the troops.  Please contact Robin at the same email address of find_robin@hotmail.com for her mailing address to send the cards.  (If you have children in school, please enlist their class to write cards to the soldiers too, make it a family event.. the troops will LOVE the sentiment!)

Thanks so much for your support of this project, and helping to make the holidays special for the 2-7 Cav (known as Ghost Battalion).
