We are the Airline Ambassadors. Airline, because of prompt aid delivery by free air. At this early date, we have delivered over 160,000 lbs. of free, vital medical aid to the largest catastrophe ever to have occurred in the western hemisphere within the first week of this calamity. Ambassadors, because, as Special Operations Command South’s (SOCSO) Commander General Pagan said, “The Airline Ambassadors bring relationship, which is the most important component of aid.” We are proud of that quote. We have 160 volunteer doctors acting as “ambassadors of good will” currently on stage.
When large aid organizations collect donations, they pay $3 per school kit or soccer ball, $5 per hygiene kit, $25 for a newborn kit, and $150 for each medical kit. They pay field workers over $125,000 per year. Airline Ambassadors pays nothing for flights, lodging, soccer balls, newborn kits, medical kits, or any of the aid we deliver – including the million or so dollars of pharmaceuticals we donate every year. According to our public annual audit, for every dollar we get, we are able to provide $11.
We have a mostly volunteer staff and a Board of Directors that both donate $100’s of thousands to the cause and work around the clock in this worst disaster of the western hemisphere, where we know that each dead-end lead in our never ending search to provide maximal efficiency in our operations will cost lives or increase suffering. A Homeless group in LA insisted and was proud of their $16,000 donation they gave to Airline Ambassadors for this catastrophe as we had a rare necessity to charter a plane where we did not have enough free air freight capacity. They are still collecting money for us.
They say that real catastrophes bring out both the best and the worst in people. This epic human disaster brings an opportunity for us all to step up and be measured. It is the true wealth you can achieve.
