Orphaned children in Tanzania have been robbed of their childhood and have to grow up fast.

Adult responsibilities

arrive early in

young lives.

Before                                                                                                                        After  (four of the ten homes completed)

Please join Global Vessels, Inc. (www.globalvessels.org),

Reaching Hearts for Kids (www.reachinghearts4kids.org), and Airline Ambassadors

as we strive to instill hope in the hearts of children that have been orphaned.

We will never be able to replace their parents, but we can make their lives better.

Together, volunteers from each organization will make a big difference.  You will not only interact with the children, but you will also help to improve lives in the community.

With many hands and inspired determination, we will continue to add homes to the compound pictured.  These buildings will provide more children, in need of a loving and caring environment and nutritious meals, a place to call "home".

Make a lasting impact in Tanzania!

Leave Tanzania, knowing you had a rich cultural and humanitarian experience...

and, that you made a lasting contribution to the country.

In addition to physical labor, volunteers can bring much needed items to the children such as clothes, shoes, flip flops, toys, books, and any other items that kids love.  Our children are between ages 3 and 10.  There are 10 boys and 10 girls.  Additionally, there is a health clinic nearby that allows volunteers to assist them.  Often, we have gone into the community and helped where we saw a dire need.

Thank you for joining us in Tanzania!

Please visit our Travel Calendar for trip dates.

Detailed itinerary below.

Tanzania At-A-Glance

Day 1:

Settle in, meet and interact with the children.  This is a good

time to relax, enjoy the scenery and take a short walk around the area.

You will need a good night's sleep in order to be able to begin working

on the orphanage project.  You will also be given a tour of the facility

and the work site.

Day 2:

Breakfast between 6:30 am - 7:15 am.

Around 7:45 am, we will begin to bring out the tools we will need

for that day -- bags of cements, power tools, wheel barrels, shovels, hammers, etc.  Begin working.

Day 3:

Same schedule as above.

Day 4:

Safari at Ngorondoto Crater -- additional $125

2 gig card Steph 2 - 065JM -- lions on the prowl

The fee will help to offset rental of pop-up top Range

Rover and entrance fee to the Masaii village.  This is an all

day trip that begins early in the morning.  On the way to

the Crater, we will stop at a Masaii village.  On the way

home, we stop at a local gift shop.

Day 5:

Work schedule.

Day 6:

Trip to town to shop.  There are two major areas you would enjoy shopping.  Downtown Arusha has an

outdoor market (where bargaining is rampart); there is also a cultural centre that high level officials (such as

presidents) visit.  (Remember, there is Tanzanite in this country).

Day 7:

Morning rest and relaxation.

Afternoon hike at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro. (additional $30). On this trip, you will walk pass several small villages.  Children love to follow you and receive any American treats you might have (i.e. candy, pencils, pens, paper, etc.).  You end up at a beautiful water fall.

Day 8:

Departure.

If time permits, optional activities may include:

Visit to “Women in Action Center:  There you will be introduced to dynamic women making a difference in Tanzania.  You can be taken to visit AIDs patients that they are helping.

Visit to Pete and Charlotte O’Neil's  (additional $25 for complete delicious meal and dance group): Pete is an ex-Black Panther in exile from the U.S.  He is in Tanzania making a difference with water projects, an orphanage, cultural center and other uplifting projects.  He can arrange a welcome dance troop and take you around his compound.  Many college and universities from the U.S. bring students to this site

Know Before You Go

Tanzania

Location:

Arusha, Tanzania is the tourist capital of Tanzania and home to East Africa Community.  Tanzania boasts some of the friendliest people in all of Africa.

Language:

Tanzania uses two languages as national languages, English and Kiswahili.  However, not all people in the rural areas understand English, so our driver/guides will be available to assist in every way possible.

Currency and Credit Cards:

The national currency in Tanzania is the shilling, also known as Tsh/=.   However, most hotels accept international currencies, US$ included.  There are many private Bureau de change and banks. Payments in hotels/lodges may be settled by credit cards. However, the exchange rate favors cash over credit cards.

Tipping:

We often recommend a $ 5 minimum per day, per person.  However, all tips are at the guest's discretion.

Electricity:

Most hotels/resorts have electricity and it is 240 volts.  If you bring (American) hair driers, shavers and other small appliances, plugs are 3 pinned square and usually require a power adapter/transformer.

Food and Water:

Please only consume food and water in places recommended by your guides.  Under no circumstance should you drink tap water.  In most cases, mineral water will be provided.  In situations where water is not provided, please buy bottled water.

Please bear in mind that all information and scheduled activities are subject to change if necessary without prior notice.
