Unforgettable Experiences
Imagine yourself on a South African Safari while helping the Zulu village of Nkundusi.
Or, catching the opening of the Robben Island Museum Nelson Mandela and Bishop Tutu
while painting the HIV Children's Home in Johannesberg.
Or, for the more active traveler, picture trekking through the mountains of Nepal
and helping to refurbish a library and establish radio communication in the area.
Or, heading off the beaten path to assist in the construction of a new school in rural India.
These are just a few of Airline Ambassadors upcoming trips. Be sure to check our website for more.
Childrens Escort Program
Averaging about 15 trips per month, the childrens escort program has escorted more than
1200 children for medical care and adoptions over the past 8 years.
A small sampling of recent trips: Masako Doi journeyed to Uzbekistan,
Joshua Moss traveled to Ukraine, and Ron Harris went to Paraguay.
Thank you to Margaret Whitehead for leading this great effort.
Notes from the Field: Adventures in Thailand and Cambodia
"How do I describe the fun we are having?
Is it the delicious Thai food? Or the Hmong and Lua children, dressed in their traditional attire?
Perhaps it is the elephant rides, the temples, and the daily massages at our hotel spa."
Deb Quigley led a team that supplied (and assembled!) 10 new bunk beds, new bedding, and a wall-mural
for the children of the hill tribes in Thailand. She has also been working with 2 orphanages in Cambodia
to support over 100 children in the Email Foster Parent Program.
A Stitch In Time
26-year-old Maria Nobar proudly signed the contract and paid $5 to enroll in
the new AAI-sponsored sewing class at Kiwanis Village, El Salvador. She is one
of 20 women who will take a 6-month vocational training class and, upon
graduation, receive her own sewing machine donated by Pedals for Progress. Airline Ambassadors will hire her to
make school uniforms for students in Kansas
City. This will offer Maria a sustainable means of providing for her family. The
$5 the women pay each month will provide a night guard for the Kiwanis Village,
benefiting all 600 residents of our adopted community. Pedals for Progress has partnered with Airline Ambassadors to provide sewing machines for many programs empowering women in several communities! AAI sends tremendous thanks to Pedals for Progress for on-going, tireless support and donations!!
Missions, Missions, Everywhere
So far, in 2007, AAI teams have delivered sewing machines to Guatemala, $1M in supplies to orphans in El Salvador,
hearing aids to Bolivia, medical supplies to St. Lucia, toys and art supplies to Vietnam, provided fencing in Mexico,
and assisted with an Easter party for orphans and refugees at the Royal Palace in Serbia.
